Dotted Rays Speckled Fade and Vertices Unite

Stephen Westillä oli heinä-elokuussa Fadealong KAL ja osallistuin siihen neulomalla Dotted Rays Speckled Faden. Ja olihan tämä myös Tuin Kutomon VäriKAL:ssa mukana. Jättimäiseen huiviin meni Hedgehog Fibresin Sock:a, Louhittaren luolan Väinämöistä ja myös Lanitium ex Machinan Merino Sock Twist:ä ja siipiväliksi tuli sopivasti 250cm. Sopiva kietoutumiskoko siis tai huivin ja peiton välimuoto eli shlanket. Lankaa meni kaikkiaan 229 grammaa.

Stephen West had a Fadealong KAL in July-August and I participated with Dotted Rays Speckled Fade. This was also one of my projects to Tuin Kutomo's VäriKAL. I used Hedgehog Fibres Sock, Louhittaren luola Väinämöinen and Lanitium ex Machina Merino Sock Twist for this shlanket. The wingspan was eventually 250cm so it's just perfect. I used 229 grams all in all.

Ja kun edellisestä huivista jäi reilusti jämiä, tein samojen KALien puitteissa vielä Vertices Unite:n. Tätä jättiä tuli neulottua enimmäkseen Worldconissa. Muilla oli pieniä mukana kulkevia projekteja, mutta meikäläinen se vain pisti tätä jättiä tikuttaen niin jonottaessa kuin luennoillakin. Eikä siihen lopulta montaa päivää mennyt. Edellisten lisäksi tähän sai upotettua myös KVG Woolworksin sw merinon ja sw merino/nylon jämät. Kokoa tälle tuli 270cm x 78cm eli oikein hyvä kääriytymisväline tämäkin. Lankaa meni yhteensä 316 grammaa.

And as I had plenty of leftovers from Dotted Rays, I used them to make Vertices Unite within the same two KALs. This was also my Worldcon project. Others had small portable projects but I knitted this giant in the queues and on the lectures. Didn't take that long to finish. I used the leftovers from my previous project plus some KVG Woolworks sw merino and sw merino/nylon, 316 grams in total. This turned out to be a nice shlanket too, 270cm x 78cm. 

 

Thinking back - Starting Point MKAL

En yleensä innostu mysteerihuiveista, mutta touko-kesäkuussa oli ihan pakko osallistua Joji Locatellin Starting Point MKALiin. Lankakombinaatioita tuli kokeiltua jos jonkinmoisia ja ykkösvihjekin tuli neulottua ja purettua useampaan otteeseen ja lopulta kolmas vaihtoehto vei voiton. Lankoina Hedgehog Fibresin Sock:a, KVG Woolworks:n sw merinoa ja sukkalankaa sekä Uinun sukkalankaa. Lopputuloksesta tuli yllättävän kiva ja massiivinen (60cm x 240cm). Tälle tulee varmasti enemmän käyttöä sitten syksymmällä.

I usually don't participate in mystery knit-a-longs but Joji Locatelli's Starting Point MKAL was something I couldn't miss. I tried several combinations, knitted and unraveled clue one several times but finally my third combo was to my liking. I used Hedgehog Fibres Sock, KVG Woolworks sw merino and sock yarn and Uinu yarns sock yarn. The end result is lovely and massive (60cm x 240cm). Now I'll need to wait for autumn to wear this properly.

Viime kuukaudet olen lähinnä keskittynyt enemmän lankahamsterointiin eikä valmistuneista ole kertynyt paljoakaan miinuksia. Hyvin sukkavoittoisia ovat tuotokseni edelleen. Pikakooste taas valmistuneista, olkaapa hyvät.

Starbursting

Tulipa tehtyä toinenkin Stephen Westin huivi, tällä kertaa Tuin Kutomon SteppeKAL:n puitteissa. Ihan kiva huivimalli tämä Starburst, mutta lopputuloksena jälleen kerran järjetön määrä langanpäitä pääteltäväksi. Se näissä Westin malleissa eniten ärsyttää. Lankoina Lanitiumin Basic Sock (väri on luultavasti Hound), Basic Merino Sock värissä Black Pearl sekä KVG Woolworks:n fingeringvahvuinen sukkalanka upeassa violetin sävyissä ja näitä kului yhteensä 153 grammaa. 4,0mm puikoilla syntyi riittävän ilmavaa jälkeä ja siipiväliksi huiville tuli 206cm. Neuloin siis huivista pienemmän koon. Kuvat on mitä on tähän vuodenaikaan. Lähikuvista näkee värit vähän paremmin.

So I knitted another Stephen West pattern, Starburst. This time it was part of SteppeKAL in Tuin Kutomo's podcast. Yet another shawl pattern that is quite nice but has an insane amount of ends to weave in. That's the most annoying part of West's patterns. I used Lanitium ex Machina's Basic Sock (the colour is most likely Hound), Basic Merino Sock in colourway Black Pearl and KVG Woolworks' fingering weight sock yarn that has no colourway name but is a lovely collection of different shades of purple. All in all I used 153 grams with 4,0mm circulars. The wingspan is 206cm and this was the smaller size. The pictures are what they are in this time of the year but you can see the colours a bit better from the closeups.

Onnistuin viimein nappaamaan Wollmeisen päivityksestä sukkalankaa eli Twin:ä värissä Im Dunklen Wald. Tätä ihanaa vihreyttä olen jo pidempään kytännyt, mutta sitä on varsin harvoin tarjolla. Lanka pääsi puikoille heti kotiuduttuaan. Käsialani on ihmeekseni löystynyt melkoisesti viime aikoina eikä 2,5mm pyöröillä magicloopattuihin sukkiin todellakaan tarvita enää 70-72 silmukkaa. Näissä sukissa on 68 silmukkaa ja sekin tuntuu paikoin vähän reilulta. Kantapää on taas Fish Lips Kiss Heel ja kuten näkyy, sekin on vähän väljähkö. Tosin lisäsin siihen varmuudeksi pari silmukkaa, ettei vain jalkapöydän päältä kiristä liikaa, mutta se oli ehkä tässä tapauksessa turhaa. Menekki oli vaivaiset 108 grammaa. Asiassa on toki se hyvä puoli, että pienemmällä silmukkamäärällä näitä Wollmeisen monivärisiä on helpompi saada raidoittumaan.

I finally managed to grab a skein of Im Dunklen Wald in Wollmeise Twin. I've been stalking this green beauty for a long time as it's rarely available. I casted on as soon as I got the yarn. My gauge has somewhat loosened recently to my surprise. Magiclooping socks does not require 70 -72 stitches anymore. These socks have 68 stitches and still feel a bit loose at some points. I used Fish Lips Kiss Heel again and added a couple of stitches to accommodate my high arches. As you can see, the heels are a bit loose too so that was unnecessary in this case. I used a meager 108 grams of yarn. The bright side in this is that using less stitches makes it easier to get these multicoloured to stripe rather than pool.

Exploration Station

YarnGasm podcast ja The Dyer's Notebook podcast järkkäsivät yhdessä Exploration Station KAL:n ja siinä oli hyvä syy viimein neuloa tuo kuuluisa Stephen Westin huivimalli. Tämä kun on yksi niitä harvoja malleja joista tykkään. Herran estetiikka ei oikein muutoin omaa makuani miellytä. Ja tulipa kokeiltua kaksiväristä patenttia eli briochia ensimmäistä kertaa. Onneksi on Youtube, ilman ohjevideoita tuo olisi ollut huomattavasti hankalampaa hahmottaa. Lankana on Wollmeise Pure ja siitä värit Heavy Metal, Dunkle Kirsche, Spinaci ja Merlot & WD Merlot. 4,0mm pyöröillä menekki oli yhteensä 248 grammaa. Tykkään.

YarnGasm podcast and The Dyer's Notebook are having an Exploration Station KAL so that was a good reason for me to finally knit one of the most famous Stephen West patterns to date. This happens to be one of the few patterns I like. Mostly his esthetics are not my cup of tea. And I learned two colour brioche for the first time. Thank goodness for Youtube. Without the tutorials this technique would've been so much harder to grasp. I used 248 grams of Wollmeise Pure in colourways Heavy Metal, Dunkle Kirsche, Spinaci and Merlot & WD Merlot with 4,0mm circulars. Me likey.

Summer Sky is Full of Roses

Ja sitten taas huivien pariin. Janina Kallio Design:n Ravelry-ryhmässä alkoi taas perinteinen kesäKAL, joten ei muuta kuin huivia puikoille. Tämä oli jo sarjassaan kymmenes tänä vuonna, mutta ei viimeinen. Lontoosta ostamani ihana Dye For Yarns:n merinosilkki muuntautui Summer Sky-huiviksi 4,0mm pyöröillä ja lankaa kului kaikkiaan 99 grammaa. Väri on nimeltään Bouquet of Dark Roses. Onneksi vyyhdissä oli muutama ylimääräinen gramma, joten ei tarvinnut panikoida huivia päätellessä. Kokoa huiville tuli 60cm x 178cm eli ihan passelin kokoinen. Pingotusjälki ei ole kaunein mahdollinen, mutta ei haittaa, halusin tämän käyttöön mitä pikimmiten.

And then back to shawls. The traditional summerKAL started in the Janina Kallio Design's Ravelry group.This was my tenth shawl this year, but not the last. The amazing Dye For Yarns merinosilk I bought from London turned into Summer Sky with 4,0mm circulars. I used 99 grams of the colourway Bouquet of Dark Roses and luckily this skein had a few grams extra so I didn't have to play yarn chicken this time. The size is 60cm x 178cm so it's just about right. I blocked this a bit too hastily so the edges could look a bit better but I don't care. I just want to use this as soon as possible.

 

5 Colours of Cashmere

Toissaviikonloppu meni Tampereella Finnconissa. Oli mahtava reissu ja tällä kertaa conineulomuksena olikin kauluri eikä perinteisen kaavan mukaan sukat.

I spent the weekend before last in Tampere at Finncon. It was an amazing trip and this time, despite my usual consocks, I made a cowl. 

Kolmessa päivässä syntyi versioni Joji Locatellin supersuositusta mallista 3 color cashmere cowl ja lankana käytin ensimmäistä kertaa Holst Garnin Noblea. Olen jo pidempään halunnut kokeilla Holstin Noblea ja tilasin juuri tätä projektia varten Titityystä kaksi kappaletta shadebagejä (väri nro 4). Yhdessä setissä oli lankaa n. 60 grammaa ja kuten jo etukäteen laskeskelin, ei yksi ihan riittänyt. Lankaa meni yhteensä 70 grammaa ja käytössä oli 3,0mm pyöröt. Lankaa jäi siis vielä kämmekkäisiin. Neuloessa Noble oli rouheahkoa, mutta pehmeni villapesuaineella ihanan pehmoiseksi.

Todella addiktoiva ja kohtuu aivoton neule syntyi kolmessa päivässä sukkelaan. Päättäjäisissä päättelin silmukat, mutta kotona totesin että uusiksi meni sillä reuna oli todella löysä lerppu. Purin päättelyn ja vaihdoin tekniikkaa. Kyllä tuli hyvä! Heinäkuu on pitänyt huolen, että tätä on tullut jo pidettyä ahkerasti. Kauluri on ihanan ohut mutta silti niin lämmin. Taidan tehdä toisenkin. Ja Noblea täytynee hommata lisää villapaidan verran. Tykästyin. Ja tosiaan, osallistuin tällä kaulurilla myös Grocery Girlsien Joji KALiin.

In three days my version of the 3 color cashmere cowl by Joji Locatelli was born. I used Holst Garn Noble for the first time. I've wanted to try it for some time now and I ordered two shadebags (color number 4) from Titityy. One set holds about 60 grams and as I predicted, one wouldn't have been enough. I used 70 grams in total with 3,0mm circulars. So I still have yarn for a matching pair of fingerless mittens. The yarn was pretty rustic while knitting but softened a lot in wool wash.

This pattern was pretty mindless, quick and totally addictive. I finished it in those three days and was binding off while participating in the ending seremonies. But. At home I realised my bind off edge was way too loose and I had to re-do it with another technique. Now it's perfect! Due to the unusually cold weather in July, this has already been used a lot. It is so light but still warm. I think I'll need to make another one. And I'll definitely need to get a sweater quantity of Noble. Oh, and this was my second knit for the Grocery Girls Joji KAL.

Ja matkamuistoksi tarttui mukaan Lankaideasta yksi kerä Austermann Step:ä ja täginsä kadottanut Manos Del Uruguayn Marina, joka on luultavasti väri nimeltä Sangre. Ei siis lähtenyt shoppailu käsistä.

And the souvenirs I bought from Lankaidea, a skein of Austermann Step and a skein of Manos del Uruguay Marina that had lost its tag. The colour is most likely Sangre. Amazingly enough I managed to control my yarn shopping this time.

Pure Joy

Neuletempausten parissa mennään edelleen. Grocery Girls:t aloittivat kesän kunniaksi Jojialong:n eli tarkoituksena on neuloa Joji Locatellin malleja elokuun loppuun saakka. Olinkin jo odottanut sopivaa hetkeä ottaa puikoille Pure Joy. Ohjeen sai taannoin huhtikuussa ilmaiseksi Jojin syntymäpäivänä, mutta nykyään se on maksullinen.

Nimensä mukaan tätä on ilo neuloa. Ainaoikeaa, raitoja, lyhennettyjä kerroksia. Kerrassaan aivotonta neulomista ja tulosta syntyy vauhdilla. Langoiksi tähän valikoitui varaston uumenissa vuodesta 2012 asti marinoitunut Wollmeise Pure WD Merlot ja sille kaveriksi Hedgehog Fibres Sock värissä Rusty Nail. Olisin alunperin halunnut yhdistää Merlot:n vihreään, mutta minut puhuttiin ympäri. Ja hyvin tämäkin yhdistelmä tuntuu toimivan. 4,0mm:n pyöröillä lankaa meni yhteensä 192 grammaa. Wollmeisea varastossa piisaa ja nyt jo mietin josko Merlot:n voisi yhdistää seuraavaksi johonkin läikkävärjättyyn luonnonvalkoiseen... Hmmm. Työlistalla olisi myös 3 color cashmere cowl ja Rocio. Katsotaan.

The on-going theme here is still knit-a-longs. Grocery Girls started a Jojialong which means knitting Joji Locatelli's patterns until the end of August. I'd been waiting for the perfect time to start my Pure Joy. I got the pattern back in April when it was free on Joji's birthday but now it is once again a paid for pattern.

The name is true, this was a pure joy to knit. Garter, stripes, short rows. Lovely brainless knit that is finished in no time. I chose an oldie from my stash, Wollmeise Pure WD Merlot (bought in 2012!) and paired it with Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Rusty Nail colourway. I originally wanted to pair Merlot with green but I was told the orange would be better. And it was worth it, these two work well together. All in all this took 192 grams with 4,0mm circulars. I have plenty of Wollmeise in my stash and I'm already thinking Merlot might look amazing paired with a speckledyed off white. Hmmm. I also have 3 color cashmere cowl and Rocio in my queue. We shall see.

KALisevat sukat

Vuorossa viimein kasa sukkia.
Osallistuin Fine and Dandy-sukillani Knitting Expat podcastin Expat Yarn KALiin sekä Grocery Girls podcastin Fancy Feet KALiin. Jälkimmäisen osalta minua onnisti arvonnassa ja Kanadasta on tulossa postia jossain vaiheessa. Siitä sitten myöhemmin.

Lanka on A Homespun House:n Soft Sock:a värissä Tooty Fruity ja sitä meni 88 grammaa 2,5mm pyöröillä. Jo ostaessa tiesin mitä langasta tekisin ja tähän malliin tuo riemunkirjava lanka sopi oikein mainiosti. En tosin ihastunut laisinkaan näiden kukkakuvioiden neulomiseen kun tiheys vaihteli kerrosten kesken melkoisesti. Tulipahan kokeiltua. Lanka oli ihanan pehmoista neulottavaa, mutta näinköhän kestää käytössä. Unisukkina ovat olleet tähän asti ja hieman jo alkavat nyppyyntyä.

Time for socks, finally.
I doubledipped my Fine and Dandy socks into the Knitting Expat's Expat Yarn KAL and to the Grocery Girls' Fancy Feet KAL. And I won a prize in the latter one! But more on that once I get mail from Canada.

The yarn is A Homespun House Soft Sock in Tooty Fruity colourway. I used  88 grams with 2,5mm circulars. I knew what I wanted to make of this yarn already when I bought it and I think this varigated yarn works well in this pattern. Knitting the flowers though, that was a pain. I had trouble with the tension all the way. Oh well, at least they are ready now. The yarn was amazingly soft and lovely to knit but I wonder how they'll last in use. So far I've only used them at night but they seem to be pilling already.

Tuin Kutomossa puolestaan jatkuu vielä ApinaKAL ja osallistuin siihen vielä kaksilla sukilla. Molemmissa lankana Vuorelman Veto, sitä uudempaa tuotantoa. Ja eipä ole lanka enää entisensä, nykyinen on ihan yhtä karheaa neuloa kuin Seiskaveikka. En tykännyt.

Malli on Cookie A:n Baudelaire, jonka ohje löytyy Knittystä. Taitaa olla keksitädin ainokainen varpaista varteen neulottava malli. Mallineuleen oppi hetkessä ulkoa, joten toista paria neuloessa ei ohjetta tarvinnut enää edes vilkaista. Punaiset ovat kokoa 41/42 ja turkoosit 38/39 ja menekki molemmissa 100 grammaa per pari. Isompiin tuli vähän lyhyehköt varret, mutta lanka ei riittänyt pidemmälle. Nämä neuloin 3,0 mm pyöröillä. Molemmat menevät lahjaksi.

The ApinaKAL (Cookie A KAL) is still ongoing in Tuin Kutomo so I made two more pairs of Cookie A socks for that. I used Vuorelman Veto for both and that yarn is not what it used to be. It's almost as coarse as Novita 7 veljestä these days. Not happy.

The pattern is Baudelaire by Cookie A. It's probably the only toe-up pattern she's made.The chart was quick to memorise and I didn't need it at all when I made the second pair. The red ones are size 41/42 and the turquoise ones are 38/39. Both used 100 grams each with 3,0mm circulars. The cuffs in the bigger ones are a bit too short but I didn't have any more yarn left. Oh well. These will both be gifted.

Hey Hey We're the Monkeys!

Olen vallan unohtanut blogata uusimmista sukistani! Osallistuin näillä sukilla Tuin kutomon ApinaKALiin ja Grocery Girlsien Fancy Feet KALiin.

Malli on Cookie A:n Monkey, jonka englanninkielinen ohje löytyy Knittystä. Tein sukat tietysti kärjestä alkaen ja alkuun pähkäilin miten kääntää kaavio. Sen ylösalaisin neulominen ei onnistu. Ravelrysta löytyi myös jonkun tekemä toe-up-versio, mutta en tykännyt siitä pätkääkään. No, jätin lopulta kaavion kääntämättä ja neuloin sellaisenaan. Toimii näinkin.

Fancy Feet KAL:ssa oli tarkoitus oppia joku uusi tekniikka, joten opettelin tekemään Fish Lips Kiss kantapään. Ei ollut edes vaikea ja istuu aikasta hyvin. Saa nähdä sitten miten tuo kestää käytössä. Ihanan nopeatekoinen, joten saattaa jäädä repertuaariin. Lahjasukkia sillä tosin on hankala tehdä, jos ei ole tarkkoja mittoja saajan jalasta. Lanka on Hedgehog Fibres:n Sock värissä Shamrock. En alkuun tykännyt tästä turhan kellanvaaleasta vihreästä, mutta valmiina sukkina tuo väri toimii. 2,5 mm pyöröillä lankaa meni 88 grammaa. Ja nämä näyttävät kestävän pesuakin mainiosti, kantapääkuva on otettu ensimmäisen pesun jäljiltä.

I've completely forgotten to blog about my latest pair of socks! I participated in Tuin Kutomo's ApinaKAL and the Grocery Girls Fancy Feet KAL with these. 

The pattern is Monkey by Cookie A, available free in Knitty. I made these toe up and first tried to figure out how to turn the chart upside down. Well, that was impossible. Then I found a toe up version of them in Ravelry but didn't like them. So I finally decided to knit the chart as is and it works just fine.

You were supposed to learn a new technique in the Fancy Feet KAL so this was the perfect opportunity to learn the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. It was easy and fits quite well. Time will only tell how it will behave and last in use. It was nice and quick to make so I'll probably use it in the future also. But gifting socks will be a bit difficult as I would need the measurements of the recipients feet before using this heel type on socks. I used Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Shamrock colourway. I didn't like this light yellowish green at first but as a pair of socks, the colour is just spot on. These took 88 grams  with 2,5mm circulars. And these seem to behave in wash quite well. The heel picture is taken after the first wash.

Dodo

Minun ei alunperin pitänyt osallistua Tuin Kutomon Dodo-KALiin, mutta toisin kävi. Heidi Alanderin Dodo hyppäsi puikoille ja langaksi valikoitui Madelinetosh:n Tosh merino light värissä Glazed Pecan. Ihana neuletuntuma. 4,5mm pyöröillä tikuttelin tämän alta aikayksikön, yhdessä päivässä viimeiseen pitsitoistoon ja sitten alkoi tympiä. Urheasti tämän kuitenkin tein loppuun. Jätin neulomatta reunaan B-pitsikaavion, sillä lanka ei olisi siihen enää riittänyt. Harkitsin myös jonkun toisen värin lisäämistä reunaan, mutta konsultoituani neuleharppuja luovuin ideasta ja päättelin huivin kun viimeistä A-pitsiosuutta oli toistettu neljä kertaa. Tein reunaan picot-päättelyn. Langan menekki oli 94 grammaa. Tästä tuli ihan kiva, mutta en vieläkään ymmärrä miten olen tuon värin ostanut. Onneksi Angelique jo lupautui antamaan tälle kodin. Kokoa tälle tuli 180cm x 53cm. Tästä samasta mallista on tehty ihania kaksivärisiä versioita, kannattaa käydä tutkimassa Ravelry-projekteja. Vähän harmittaa etten itse ryhtynyt samaan.

I wasn't supposed to participate in Tuin Kutomo's Dodo KAL, but what do you know, I did anyway. The pattern is Dodo by Heidi Alander. I chose Madelinetosh Tosh merino light in colourway Glazed Pecan. The yarn was a joy to knit. This was a really quick knit with 4,5mm circulars, I knit all the way to the last lace section in one day, then I got bored and had to force myself to finish this. I decided to skip the lace edging (B chart) as I would've run out of yarn. I was thinking of taking another colour into the mix, but the other neuleharput talked me out of it. So I did a picot bind off after repeating the last lace section (chart A) four times. This took 94 grams. It is lovely but I have no idea what made me buy this colourway, it is so not me. Luckily Angelique already promised to give this a good home. The size is 180cm x 53cm. There are some beautiful two coloured versions of this in Ravelry, you should really check them out. I'm a bit bummed that I didn't make a two coloured version myself.

Aureola

Odotin Janina Kallion uusinta huivimallia Aureola kuin kuuta nousemaan ja ostinkin sen heti julkaisupäivänä. Huivista alkoi samalla myös KAL Ravelryssa ja pitihän siihen osallistua siinä sivussa. Aikani lankalaatikoita myllättyäni huiviin valikoitui Wollmeise Pure väreissä Orchidee ja Merlot. Olisi vain pitänyt valita kontrastiväriksi mieluummin Orchidee, sillä Merlot:n jämät loppuivat strategisesti kaksi kerrosta ennen loppua ja jokunen gramma piti lainata paitaprojektiin varatuista langoista. Kaikkiaan lankaa tähän upposi 200 grammaa ja käytössä oli 3,75:n pyöröt. Ohje oli ihanan helppo ja syntyi kuin itsestään. Lopputuloksella on kokoa 48cm x 200cm. Ja tämä on IHANA.

I was anxiously waiting for the release of Janina Kallio's latest pattern, Aureola, and I bought it immediately after release. They also started a KAL in Ravelry so I just had to take part in that too. After rummaging in my stash I chose Wollmeise Pure in Orchidee and Merlot. I should've chosen Orchidee as contrast colour though, as I ran out of Merlot just two rows before the end. I was forced to borrow a few grams from a sweater project to finish this. All in all this took 200 grams with 3,75 circulars. The pattern was easy and practically knitted itself. The size is about 48cm x 200cm and I just LOVE this!

Bloody Breakwater

Olen ihan unohtanut postata viime kuussa valmistuneen villapaitani. Pitäisi vähän ryhdistäytyä bloggaamisen suhteen.

Toinen WWMM15:n eli Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month KAListelun aikana tekemäni projekti oli Breakwater. Edellisestä on aikaa, mutta muistiinpanot olivat tallella, joten oli helppo tehdä paranneltu versio. Tälle tuli mm. enemmän pituutta niin vartaloon kuin hihoihinkin. Wollmeise Pure 0-Rh-negativ ei alunperin pitänyt olla tähän projektiin käytettävä väri, mutta älysin sen vasta hihoja eroteltaessa. Tuli aloitettua turhan innokkaasti...mutta eipä tuo haittaa! Paidasta tuli kiva ja nyt alan pikkuhiljaa lämmetä noille kukkanapeillekin. Parempiakaan ei tähän hätään varastosta löytynyt. Lankaa meni kaiken kaikkiaan 372 grammaa.

My second WWMM15 a.k.a. Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month project was Breakwater. It's been a while since my first one, but I still had my notes so it was easy to make an improved one. This one got among other things more length to the body and sleeves. Wollmeise Pure 0-Rh-negativ was not my original colour choice for this but I realised it only when I separated the sleeves from the body and it was too late by then. That's what you get when you're too eager to get started... But none the less this one is great and I'm slowly warming up to those flower buttons. For the time being I didn't have any better ones in my stash. All in all this took 372 grams.

Gravitate On the Road

Ravelryssa KAListeltiin neulesuunnittelija Janina Kallion ryhmässä salaisuusteemalla. Tarkoituksena oli neuloa yksi tai useampi suunnittelijan huivimalleista, mutta valitsemaansa mallia ei saanut paljastaa muille kuin vasta tempauksen lopussa. Lopputulos oli siis yllätys myös suunnittelijalle itselleen. Hauska idea ja innostuin tekemään oikein kaksi huivia tempauksen aikana. Salaisuuskin taisi säilyä molempien kohdalla loppuun asti.

There was a KAL in the designer Janina Kallio's Ravelry group and the theme was "Can you keep a secret? " The idea was to knit at least one of the designer's patterns without revealing which one it is until the end of the KAL. So the results were a surprise even for the designer. This was a fun idea and I ended up making two shawls during the KAL. And I think I managed to keep the secret with both of them.

Ensimmäisenä oli vuorossa On the Road. Lankana Wollmeise Lace-Garn väreissä Schwartz ja Petit Poison nr. 5. Halusin huivista reilun kokoisen ja koska käytössä oli ohjeen suositusta ohuempi lanka, tein yhden ylimääräisen toiston kerroksia 1-20. Lankaa kului yhteensä 128 grammaa ja käytössä oli 3,75:n pyöröt. Huiville tuli sopivasti kokoa: 55cm x 220cm ja käyttöön se pääsi heti.

First up was On the Road. I used Wollmeise Lace-Garn Schwartz and Petit Poison nr. 5. I wanted to make this a large one and as I used lace instead of the suggested fingering weight, I made one extra repeat of rows 1-20. With 3,75 circulars this took  128 grams and turned out big and lovely: 55cm x 220cm. And it's already in use.

Varastossani jo kohta kolmatta vuotta muhinut palkintolanka, Wolle's Color Changing Cotton tarvitsi arvoisensa mallin ja pitkä pähkäilyni oli viimein ohi. Toisena huivina valmistui siten jälleen Gravitate. No, edellisestä olikin jo aikaa. 4,5:n pyöröillä tikuttelin huivia ja tuskailin langan kanssa. Kyseessä oli nelisäikeinen puuvillalanka ilman minkäänlaista kierrettä. Voitte kuvitella miten hauskaa on neuloa pitsiä ja pitää silmällä kaikkia neljää säiettä samalla... Lopputulos on kuitenkin kauniisti laskeutuva ja pitkä liukuvärjäys sopii mielestäni tähän mainiosti. Tein reunapitsiä yhden ylimääräisen toiston maksimoidakseni langankulutuksen ja tähän meni lopulta 95 grammaa lankaa. Tätä ei juuri tarvinnut pingotella ja kokoa tuli mukavat 195cm x 62cm. Tämä päätynee lahjaksi.

I've been marinating a skein of Wolle's Color Changing Cotton in my stash for almost three years now and finally I figured out the best pattern for this yarn. So I made another Gravitate. Well, it's been some time since the first one. With 4,5 circulars this took 95 grams when I made an extra repeat of the border section to use most of the yarn. The yarn itself was a pain to knit as it was just four strands without any twist. Keeping an eye on all four strands was a real challenge when knitting lace. The shawl though has a lovely drape and the long color changes fit perfectly to this pattern. At least in my opinion. This didn't need much blocking and the size is quite nice too: 195cm x 62cm. This one goes to the gift pile.

Ruista ranteeseen

Joulumuorin pajalla on pitänyt kiirettä eikä tuotoksia voi täällä esitellä vielä muutamaan kuukauteen, joten päivitystahti on varsin verkkainen.

Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month 2015 eli WWMM15 on meneillään ja yleisten asusteiden sarjassa tein itselleni kämmekkäät Wollmeise Puresta. Väri on WD Fliederbusch eikä kuva toista sitä läheskään oikein kaikista muokkauksista huolimatta. Lankaa kului 54 grammaa, resoreissa 3,0:n pyöröt ja muutoin 3,5:t. Ja näihin löytyi omasta varastosta juuri täydelliset kissanapit. Ohje löytyy ilmaiseksi Eilen tein -blogista.

I've been knitting christmas presents so I can't post much these days.

Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month 2015 a.k.a. WWMM15 is on-going and I made myself a pair of fingerless mittens in the general accessories category. These used 54 grams of Wollmeise Pure WD Fliederbusch and the amazing colour does not come out right no matter how much I edit the picture. These were a quick knit magic-looping with 3,0 and 3,5 circulars. And luckily I had the perfect kitty buttons in my stash. The pattern can be found free also in English from the Eilen tein-blog.

Talvinen mysteeri kesähelteellä

Tein viime vuonna kaikki GoddessKnits:n mysteerihuivit. Tai no melkein. Talvimysteerin aloitus jäi tälle vuodelle ja toteutus "hieman" venähti. Koska tämä meni lahjaksi, ei tästä voinut postata aiemmin. Huivi valmistui jo heinäkuun puolella, keskellä kesän kuuminta hellettä. Lankana kaksinkertainen BBB filati Merinos extra ja käytössä 4,0:n pyöröt. Tavoitteena oli kuluttaa koko vyyhti, mutta tähän upposi vain 85 grammaa. 8/0:n helmiä meni myös melkoisesti, niitä en viitsinyt laskea. Huivista tuli ihan hyvänkokoinen: 180cm x 75cm.

Last year I knitted all GoddessKnits' mystery shawls. Well, all except one. The Winter mystery shawl was started in the beginning of this year and it took me "a while" to finish. Since this was a gift, I couldn't post this earlier. This was finished already in July. I used BBB filati Merinos extra doubled with 4,0 circulars. I meant to use the whole skein but this only took 85 grams plus numerous 8/0 beads. Those I didn't count. This turned out quite nice and the size is perfect: 180cm x 75cm.

Peggy

WWMM14 lähenee loppuaan ja ehdin kuin ehdinkin saada toisen sukkaprojektini valmiiksi. Perinteiset polvisukat kärjestä alkaen ja lankana Wollmeise Twin uutuusvärissä Peggy. 2,25:n puikoilla lankaa upposi näihin 213 grammaa. Kuva ei tee oikeutta väreille, joten piti napata vielä oikein lähikuva.

WWMM14 is nearing its end and I managed to finish my second sock project in time. As usual, I made these magic-looping from the toe up using Wollmeise Twin in the new colourway Peggy. Using 2,25 circulars these took 213 grams. The picture doesn't do justice to these lovely colours so I also took a close up.

Winter is coming

Ravelryssa on menossa Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month eli tuttavallisemmin WWMM. Ensimmäinen KAListelu työni valmistui ja lopputulos on vallan mainio. Korkkasin varastostani löytyneen vanhimman kokonaisen vyyhdin, joka oli tässä tapauksessa Wollmeise Twin Tollkirsche ja pyöräytin sukat. Malli on Eddard, joka löytyy ilmaiseksi Ravelrysta. Ohjeesta poiketen tein nämä tyylilleni uskollisena kärjestä alkaen. Lankaa upposi 130 grammaa ja käytössä oli 2,5:n pyöröt.

 

Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month a.k.a. WWMM is on-going in Ravelry and I just finished the first of my KAL projects. I used the oldest whole skein of Wollmeise I had in my stash. That turned out to be Wollmeise Twin Tollkirsche. The pattern is Eddard (free pattern in Ravelry) which I modified to a toe-up version. These used 130 grams with 2,5 circulars. I just love the end result!

True Blood

Tervehdys pitkästä aikaa. Olen keskittänyt vähäisen neulomisaikani keskeneräisten töiden viimeistelyyn ja viimeinkin on jotain esiteltävää. Tämä takki oli alunperin osa viime syksyistä WWMM:a (Wollmeise Withdrawal Madness Month), mutta kesken jäi. Yritykseni saada tämä valmiiksi keskeneräisten kategoriassa osana Ravellenic Games:a epäonnistui myös. No hitaasti hyvä tulee tai syntyy ainakin käyttökelpoista.

Mallina on maksullinen ohje Henni, jolle tein tapani mukaan reippaasti lisää pituutta. Jossain hetkellisessä mielenhäiriössä olen nähtävästi olettanut, että kolme vyyhtiä Twin:ä riittäisi modattuun versiooni. No eipä riittänyt. Oli pakko ottaa yksi Pure vyyhti apuun ja tietenkin se oli paljon tasavärisempi ja vaaleampi kuin Twinnit. Onneksi se ei tuosta hirveämmin erotu, toivottavasti. Kaikkiaan takkiin upposi 604 grammaa Wollmeisea värissä 0-Rh-negativ (489 g Twin ja 115g Pure). Kuvia piti editoida aika reippaasti ennenkuin värin sai näkymään edes jotenkin oikein ja silti kuvat ovat liian kirkkaat. Tätä ihanaa verenpunaista pitää ehdottomasti saada vielä paidallisen verran lisää. Yksi ufoutumisuhan alainen työ valmiina, ei muuta kuin seuraavien kimppuun.

Long time no see. I´ve been focusing my sparse knitting hours on finishing several WIPs. Finally I have something to show you. This cardigan was part of the WWMM last fall but obviously I didn´t finish it in time. I also tried to finish it as part of the Ravellenic Games WIP category but failed yet again. Oh well, it was a long and arduous process but at least it turned out wearable.

The pattern is Henni and I added more length to it as usual. Due to some mysterious brain freeze, I apparently thought 3 skeins of Twin would be enough. Obviously not. I had to use some lighter and more semisolid Pure but it doesn´t show much. I hope. All in all this took 604 grams of Wollmeise (489 grams of Twin and 115 grams of Pure). A lot of editing was needed before the vibrant colour looks almost as it should and the pics are still a bit too bright. I definitely need more of this blood red beauty. One down, several others to go.

Imagine When

Ravellenic Gamesit eivät osaltani olleet tällä kertaa kovin tuottoisat. Onneksi oli järki kädessä, enkä antanut startiitille valtaa. Uudeksi projektiksi valikoitui huivi ja WIP-kategoriassa yrityksenä oli saada tuo pitkään sohvannurkassa lojunut neuletakki valmiiksi. Nyt jo voitaneen todeta, että näistä vain huivi pääsi maaliviivan ylitse ajoissa. Ehkäpä tuo takkikin tuosta lähiaikoina valmistuu.

Kumma kyllä suurena symmetrian puolestapuhujana tällä hetkellä epäsymmetrisyys jostain ihmeen syystä viehättää kovasti. Joji Locatellin upea huivimalli Imagine When ehti jo tovin lojua työlistalla ja olympialaisten ansiosta huivi pääsi puikoille. Lankana Wollmeise Pure värissä WD Granatapfel, jota kului 4,0:n pyöröillä 140 grammaa. Huivi on ihana, mutta harmi kyllä aika pieni. Strategiset mitat ovat 160cm x 50cm.

My participation in the Ravellenic Games was not really productive this time. Luckily I was realistic and didn't give in to "startitis". I started one shawl as a new project and tried to finish my cardigan in the WIPs category since it's long overdue. And I crossed the finish line with the shawl only. Well, the cardi will be finished in the near future.

Curiously I'm quite fond of asymmetry these days. As a great lover of symmetry, this is quite puzzling. The gorgeous pattern Imagine When by Joji Locatelli has been on my to-do list for a while now and thanks to the Olympics I had a reason to cast on. Using Wollmeise Pure in colourway WD Granatapfel, I used 140 grams with 4,0 circulars. I love the result, even though it is a bit smaller than expected: 160cm x 50cm.
